Retreat isToo Hip!

This morning I was surfing some of my favorite blogs, and one of them is Danny Seo's 'Daily Danny'. He's a nationally known 'Green Living Expert' (formerly of Country Home magazine, been in lots of TV appearances and magazine articles, and has written a few books) and shares lots of great ideas for recycling, reusing, etc. on his blog. On Wednesday, he shared a post on collage/decopauge: http://www.dailydanny.com/?p=1573

You're gonna' LOVE the material he featured!!! ;0) Want a hint? I sent him a link to our piano bar photo. You see, underneath all of the sheet music, and visible on many parts of the piano bar, is a TON of player piano roll music. A TON. Considering I've been doing collage & decopauge with this material for the past year, I'm ahead of the trend, my friends!!!!!!

Flyin' Home

Sooooo, let's time travel a bit here... back to last Monday morning. Exhausted after the Farm Chicks Show and beyond frustrated by a mistake-laden 6 AM wakeup call from the front desk on the one day we planned to sleep IN (note: Holiday Inn Express on Mission Street in Spokane leaves MUCH to be desired in the intelligence and service departments. If a hotel MANAGER used the phrase 'Oh, sorry, MY BAD' while excusing her behavior, you'd think so too.), we began our trip West. An hour or so into it (maybe more, it's all a blur now) we spy this caravan ahead of us..... and as we inch closer, I see the sassy name on the trailer above. I am intrigued and think 'Could it be...?'

The moment this one comes into view, I am certain.

Yup. It's them! The Sisters On The Fly Cowgirl Caravan, all lovely gals even tho their trailers are the bonafide celebs! (I took more photos of the four cute trailers and now I can't find them...?) What fun to see the girls jauntily traveling along. They even smiled and waved when I held up the Farm Chicks poster in my passenger window!

A few more miles down the highway, we saw this guy:

Mmmmmmm, yeah..... those are empty wine barrels. If they had been full, I'd bet the SOTF woulda' been right behind him!!!!!!! (The barrels were so precariously tied on that truck that it made me nervous just to be parked next to it at the rest stop. Yipes!)

In related news, I'm readying photos of my Junk Queen Crowns & Tiaras, which debuted at the Farm Chicks show, for submission to Somerset Magazines. Cross your fingers for me!

Truckin' Along....

Not too bad for a couple'a old codgers, huh?! Debi Burton of Ormolulu snapped this shot of us. I just found it on her blog and, amazingly enough, liked it (I rarely ever like photos taken candidly) so I snagged it! The FABulous truck belongs to the equally fabulous Jeff & Liz of Seabold Vintage Market. Jeff was workin' on selling the truck, but it served as a darling prop for the show in the meantime!

Yes, those ARE heels I'm wearing. Very comfy slides with soft insoles. My poor sore feets had been in flats & tennies for weeks, and I was just feeling rebellious. Someone actually said to me 'You clean up pretty well, Deb!' when they saw me in heels!! Cracked me up. I just wish I had looked more like this when I was onstage Friday night, speaking to the assembled dealers about visual presentation....when I saw the photos Bob took of me 'in action' up there, I crawled under the table and nearly died. Note to self: Never speak after spending six hours huffin' & puffin' setting up our booth. It aint' pretty. My most sincere apologies to the crowd...
